AIG Life is offering a new next day private prescription service to all its protection insurance policyholders.
This is an extension to the insurer’s Smart Health proposition, and will see prescriptions delivered direct to policyholders’ homes. There will be no additional fees or charges for this new service.
Smart Health provides six health and wellbeing solutions. These are available to all 1.2m customers of AIG Life, and members of employer-provided benefit schemes.
Smart Health already offers virtual GP consultations, by phone or video. AIG says there has been a 250 per cent increase in usage since March this year, and the start of Covid-19 pandemic.
AIG Life marketing director Sue Helmont says she expects this enhancement to be welcomed by both advisers and customers.
She adds: “The industry is working hard to do the right thing. We hope this small innovation proves invaluable for our customers, while helping support social distancing, as medicines are delivered direct to the door.”
AIG Life says it has made a number of enhancements and innovations to policies since the start of the pandemic. This includes finding alternative ways to underwrite those who apply for protection insurance, rather than seeking medical information from an over-stretched NHS.
It also now provides virtual medical screenings to help new applications, rather than require face-to-face nurse appointments.
