Unum UK is expanding its support for carers with a new offering from eldercare specialist Lottie.
Through this collaboration, Unum can now provide eldercare support to its 900+ employees, including important information and advice on caring for elderly dependents.
Lottie’s seniorcare service, launched in 2021, combines healthcare knowledge and technology, allowing consumers to compare care homes, receive one-on-one help, and manage the difficulties of eldercare.
Unum commissioned Opinium research in 2022, which revealed that 35 per cent of the sandwich generation employees desire businesses to provide specific support programmes, including external care signposting.
This partnership follows Unum’s recent modification of its carers’ leave policy, allowing employees to take up to five days of paid leave each year for caring responsibilities.
Unum UK HR director Jane Hulme says: “Connecting Lottie’s eldercare expertise with Unum’s culture of putting people at the heart of employee benefits helps make sure the caregivers among our workforce can be fully present and thrive at work. With five generations in the modern workforce and a growing number in the ‘sandwich generation’, we want to nurture and retain the best talent through different stages of their working life to enable them all to thrive.”
