The Association of Medical Insurers and Intermediaries (AMII) has added Nick Meek and Daniel Donoghue.

AMII membership benefits include participation at national conferences, technical regulatory compliance support, parliamentary and regulatory lobbying, Preferential Professional Indemnity Insurance cover, online technical advice and professional support, and education events programme and opportunities to network with industry colleagues.

After 11 years in the market, Nick Meek founded Vida Insurance Advisors in July 2020 after leaving SecureHealth.

Vida Insurance Advisors provides individuals and small businesses with customised advice on private medical insurance, life insurance, critical illness insurance, shareholder protection, and income protection.

Meek says: “I’ve built up a base of close clients and a good level of expertise over the last decade but, most importantly, I really enjoy what I do so I wanted to continue in the industry and decided to set up on my own.

“I think the health sector in the UK is shifting and this has been further accelerated by the pandemic. Business is booming and last month I had the busiest month I’ve had in the whole 11 years I’ve been working in the industry.

“There has been a huge uptake recently and I think this is a result of a number of things but largely people have realised that COVID is not going away, and it has changed the NHS forever. Demand on services is not going to reduce, and more and more people want to make a plan for their health with this in mind.

“I expect the year ahead to be just as busy and it is a crucial time for our industry. I firmly believe in looking after the customer interest first and foremost and I’m delighted to be coming on board with AMII – a body helping, guiding, and influencing to ensure that industry standards are continuously raised.”

Daniel Donoghue, who has more than two decades of expertise in the business, left SecureHealth in July 2020 to start Surrey Circle Health, a specialised PMI Broker situated in Addlestone, Surrey. He has worked for Aviva, VitalityHealth, and AXA Health.

Donoghue says: “I’ve been advising and organising private healthcare policies for individual and corporate clients across Southeast England and central London for 24 years.

“I pride myself on the relationships I build with my clients, always going the extra mile, actively listening and asking relevant questions to tailor the most appropriate policy to meet their needs.

“I find my work easy as I’m genuinely interested in my clients as people, and it’s a real privilege to represent them, ensuring that they are receiving the best deal that they could possibly insure themselves with in the UK today.

“I’m absolutely delighted to join the industry’s professional trade association and look forward immensely in trying to help further the ongoing governance of the UK’s PMI industry – all the more so as we emerge into the post-pandemic landscape of both the private and public healthcare sectors in this country.”

AMII executive chairman David Middleton says: “This is a great way to kick off what is set to be a busy year. As an Association, we are stronger together, and Daniel and Nick will only add to our voice and influence.”
