The Association of Medical Insurers and Intermediaries (amii) has terminated its membership of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI).
This follows the revelation of damaging allegations regarding misconduct and sexual assault from CBI employees. The CBI have acknowledged that they employed staff who were “culturally toxic” and failed to take action against those who sexually harassed female colleagues.
Last week Aviva and Phoenix left the CBI in the wake of fresh allegations of sexual misconduct at the corporate lobby organisation.
This was following The Guardian report of a second allegation of rape by a woman who worked there. She later blamed the lobby group’s workplace culture and said there were no appropriate support systems in place to deal with the occurrence.
amii executive chairman Dave Middleton said: “We are deeply concerned about the allegations made about the CBI and have therefore decided to terminate our membership with immediate effect.
“In light of this, amii cannot continue to support the CBI, and we have notified the organisation of our immediate termination accordingly.”
