Aviva has introduced new cancer support services for its private medical insurance customers with cancer, including individuals and small businesses, as well as major corporate plans with cancer coverage.
Aviva has created a Cancer Care Guide with the help of Macmillan Cancer Support to help clients access information and support. The guide includes helpful information for anyone dealing with cancer, from diagnosis to treatment and remission as well as financial considerations, including budgeting, financial assistance, government benefits, financial planning, and pension alternatives.
According to Macmillan Cancer Support, 83 per cent of people in the UK with cancer face some type of financial impact as a result of their diagnosis, with those affected spending an average of £891 per month on top of their ordinary expenses3.
Customers can also call the Macmillan Support line for personalised cancer information from certified Macmillan cancer information experts.
Aviva UK Health clinical business adviser Amanda Windsor says: “Our dedicated cancer claims team understands just how much a cancer diagnosis can affect many aspects of our customers’ lives. Whilst dealing with their health and treatment, customers can also face significant financial, emotional and day-to-day living challenges.
“Benefitting from the expertise of our partners Macmillan Cancer Support, our Cancer Care Guide aims to give customers practical information to help them manage the multiple challenges of living with cancer. Together with offers on products and services that we have chosen to be of genuine relevance, we hope to give our customers with cancer a little extra help during their claim.”
Macmillan Cancer Support chief medical officer Rosie Loftus says: “We know that a cancer diagnosis can turn your life upside down, and even the smallest helping hand can make the world of difference.
“Aviva’s Cancer Care Guide is a brilliant first step for people living with cancer to find out what support is out there for them, that they might not have known about before. Through our work together with Aviva, we aim to make life that little bit easier for people by providing the right support for them when they need it most.”
