Cartwright makes two appointments to specialist project team

Cartwright has appointed Alex Nadolny and Danny Squire to their specialist project team.

Nadolny has 15 years of pension administration and project management experience. He joins from Barnett Waddingham, where he was a project manager, and previously worked as a lead pensions data consultant for Capita. He specialises in scheme implementations, de-risking, scheme winding-up initiatives, and conditional data cleansing projects.

Squire has eight years of experience in contracted-out defined benefit pension schemes. He came from First Actuarial, where he was senior pensions administrator. Prior to this, he worked with XPS Pension Group.

These appointments follow the hire of Gertrude Sheta last month.

Cartwright director of administration Julie Yates says: “Pension scheme administration has been going through a period of transformation for some time, but this has accelerated in recent years driven largely by market happenings and an array of projects such as GMPe and data cleanse. Schemes also need to comply with regulatory changes, and they want to take advantage of unexpected improvements in liquidity – opportunities that would be lost if prompt action is not taken.

“But it’s also fair to say that even forgetting all this, things could not continue as they were. At some point, bad administration was going to catch up with schemes and administrators alike. Excellence in pensions administration is key to a scheme, it is the foundation for everything. Get it right and schemes and members will have a very different experience and output.

“Schemes and trustees are grappling for support in a market which is now in a resource crisis and ill equipped to cope. From an administration perspective – demand is high and work volumes are surging. In addition to this the market is contracting. “Having our own specialist project team as a standalone function is working extremely well.

“We are able to fully dedicate our team of specialists to the task in hand and take our clients through a clear journey to completion – whatever their project may be – data cleanse, wind- up or derisking. We are extremely busy, and we expect this to continue, and so we continue to recruit ahead of demand with skilled experts to best suit our client’s needs. Alex and Danny are specialists in their field and are a very welcome addition to our growing team.”
