Arter has also been reappointed as the Ombudsman for the Pension Protection Fund, again for a further two-year period.
The Pension Ombudsman investigates complaints and disputes about personal and occupational pension schemes. He also oversees reviewable matters and complaints about the Pension Protection fund and appeals about the Financial Assistance Scheme.
Arter became the Pension Ombudsman in May 2015 and will now continue in this post until July 31 2021. He is a solicitor and a former head of pensions at Eversheds LLP.
The minister for pensions and financial inclusion Guy Opperman says: “I am pleased to confirm that Anthony Arter will continue as Pensions Ombudsman. He has brought a wealth of knowledge and experience of pensions to this vital role and displayed both leadership and judgement.”
This appointment followed an open competition regulated by the Office for the Commissioner of Public Appointments.
