Employer charges

Four different approaches to employers’ charges have emerged across the market.

– Several providers, typically serving larger employers, have a variable AMC for members, which can be adapted in the event the employer wishes to contribute. Aegon, Aon, Atlas, LifeSight, Mercer and Standard Life fall into this category.

– Salvus and Now: Pensions both charge employers monthly. Salvus charges £20, while Now charges £36 a month as standard, with discounts for employers supported with a payroll bureau. Ensign charges employers a single annual fee.

– Several providers charge a one-off set up fee. The People’s Pension charges £500, discounted to £300 through an intermediary regis- tered with it, while BlueSky charges £450 and TPT charges £250.

– Nest and Welplan levy no charge on employers.
