Hymans Roberston has appointed Philip Pearson to be the new head of LGPS Investment.
Pearson joined Hymans Roberston in 2020, where he has worked as a senior investment consultant, helping develop client consulting and strategic focus on the LGPS.
Pearson has almost 25 years’ experience in the financial services industry, previously working as head of alternative investments at Aviva Investors and head of asset management at AgFe, an asset management and advisory firm specialising in real asset financing.
In both roles Pearson has supported institutional investors in allocating capital to a variety of private markets including private equity/debt, real estate and infrastructure. Hymans says he has an in-depth understanding of investment markets and leads the company’s advice to a number of LGPS funds across a range of investment services.
Commenting on his new appointment, Pearson says: “Investment is at the heart of all financial strategy and in this current Covid-19 environment, the expertise and insight we offer will be essential for our LGPS clients as they navigate unpredictable, and choppy, economic waters over the next few years. I am thrilled to be taking on this role at such a challenging time for the LGPS sector and for the economy and markets generally.”
Chief investment officer David Walker adds: “[Pearson] brings a investment and client consulting experience to this role, at a time when our LGPS investment business is continuing to broaden the reach that we have achieved over many years.
“The expertise he brings will enable us to extend and evolve our Investment offering as we continue to support our LGPS clients over the forthcoming months.”
