Legal & General has enhanced its secure pension portal for its 3.7m DC scheme members.

This new portal has been built to accommodate future pensions dashboard technologies, and offers member a number of new features, including the ability to access their pension details from any device, easier access to  fund fact sheets and lifestyle profiles, plus access L&G’s new interactive retirement planning tool.

This ‘Manage Your Account Portal’ has also been redesigned to offer simpler navigation enabling DC members to log in more quickly and easily using enhanced security features such as one time passcodes. There is also a new virtual assistant and online secure messaging facility.

L&G says this portal is being rolled out to more than 16,000 pension schemes, representing 3.7 million individual members across the UK.

As of 11 June 2020 more than one million  members had registered and logged-in to make use of the new portal.

L&G says that this infrastructure has proved resilient to traffic spikes of up to 75 per cent more than average during Covid-19 lockdown and pension benefits statement season.

L&G head of defined contribution Emma Douglas says: “Recent events have only underlined why the pensions industry must invest in cutting-edge technology to better serve scheme members – via the channel each individual finds easiest.”

“This portal is a significant piece of new infrastructure for a ‘lockdown’ UK – and has been completed by our teams who themselves are also operating and collaborating remotely. In a time when financial security is more important than ever, the new portal allows members to view their pension details safely, whenever they need to.”

“Investments we’ve made in new infrastructure behind the scenes of the new portal will boost L&G’s ability to deliver new tools, services and technologies well into the future.”
