Nick McClelland has announced he is leaving wellbeing fintech Champion Health after just a year with the business.
McClelland, a former chief growth officer at Mercer, says his departure is due to a “fantastic” new work opportunity.
In a LinkedIn post McClelland says: “This is not something I expected to be announcing, however a fantastic opportunity has come along that at this stage on my journey, I could not turn down.”
His leaves the business today (April 15) and is expected to announce his new post within the next fortnight.
McClelland praised the team at Champion Health and Physictrack, and the work they are doing when it comes to encouraging business and organisations to focus on staff wellbeing and monitor the impact of health initiatives.
He adds: “I leave Champion after an incredible year of learning and hopefully delivering some impact along the way!”
McClelland has called for businesses to adopt a more coherent approach to wellbeing to ensure employee benefit strategies are positively impacting employees’ lives, as well as delivering value for employers.
He has previously said there is a need for the employee benefits industry to modernise and emulate companies like Netflix and YouTube, by delivering more personalised services to boost engagement and help make meaningful improvements to employees’ physical and mental health.
