Quilter Investors has appointed Marisol Hernandez as its head of responsible investment.
Hernandez is an alternative investments consultant and responsible investment adviser with over 15 years of experience working for institutional investors, consulting companies, and the United Nations Principles of Responsible Investment (UNPRI).
Hernandez oversaw asset owners at UNPRI and created plans for the choice, appointment, and supervision of investment managers and passive investments. As part of the introduction of responsible investment throughout the hedge fund industry, she was also in charge of creating the first industry-standard responsible investment due diligence questionnaire and handbook for hedge funds.
Hernandez will work closely with Quilter Investors’ chief investment officer, Marcus Brookes, on the creation and execution of the firm’s responsible investment policies and initiatives.
Earlier this year, Quilter introduced responsible and sustainable options for its popular WealthSelect Managed Portfolio Service. Stuart Clark, the portfolio manager for Quilter Investors, manages this service with the responsible investment team.
Eimear Toomey, who served as the company’s former head of responsible investment, is replaced by Hernandez.
Quilter Investors chief investment officer Marcus Brookes says: “We are delighted to be welcoming someone of Marisol’s abilities and experience to Quilter Investors. We have come a long way in a short space of time in implementing responsible investment and are proud of the products and services we have in place for advisers. However, we recognise that there is more to be done and that we cannot rest on our laurels. I look forward to working closely with Marisol to develop our offering further and ensure responsible investment is one of our core pillars of Quilter Investors.
Quilter Investors head of responsible investment Marisol Hernandez says: “Responsible investment has surged in popularity in recent years, but with that has brought challenges that need to be addressed. There can still be a lot of confusion on terminology and approaches and as such it has become crucial to be clear and precise in what it is we want to achieve in this space, where people, profits and planet can coexist. Quilter Investors has the ambition and drive to make responsible investment a success and make it part of the fabric of financial advice and I am excited to be part of this journey.”
