Standard Life has made two senior appoints to the commercial team supporting its retirement solutions business.
Kenny McIvor joins as head of trading and David Burton joins as head of platforms and process. Both will report to Phoenix Group’s commercial and finance director Justin Grainger, responsible for managing the group’s £32bn annuity portfolio.
McIvor joins from WTW where he was a director in the life consulting practice and has over 15 years’ experience of working in pricing and strategy for annuities and bulk purchase annuities.
Burton has 20 years’ industry experience and joins from Legal and General, where we worked on delivering technology solutions within Solvency II and BPA business areas for both L&G Retirement and LGIM.
Grainger says these appointments come as the BPA and wider retirement market continues to grow significantly.
He says: “Our business has gone through a period of rapid growth in line with this demand. Given this, our focus is on ensuring we have the best talent to help deliver a robust commercial and technology strategy that ensures the effective and efficient management of risk, and achieves scale through technology.”
He adds that Standard Life has “ambitious objectives” for growth for 2023 and beyond.
