Nico Aspinall has left his role as CIO of B&CE, which offers The People’s Pension master trust, and will join impact investors, Connected Asset Management.
Aspinall will be will become CIO of Connected which specialises in sustainability investment solutions and is looking to build sustainable investment options for the DC market. This will include investments in UK clean energy, social housing and technology.
Commenting on the move Aspinall says: “I’m very excited to have the opportunity to shape the future of sustainable investment for pension funds with Connected.
“It is no longer enough just to be good at managing finance to the exclusion of everything else. We have to find another way to deploy capital, make it work harder and deliver a better outcome for investors and the planet.”
Connected founder and chief executive Darren Agombar says: “Aspinall’s deep working knowledge of managing DC pension investment strategies will be critical for Connected as it develops and delivers an entirely sustainable solution to long-term investment for the UK pensions industry.
“Pension funds and other long-term investors have yet to find the right vehicle to deliver returns for pension savers while properly managing resources and human capital without destroying the planet.
“The reality is, satisfying ESG considerations actually improves underlying investment performance while reducing risk, and will have a benefit to the economy as well.”
