Logins to WPA’s health app increased by a factor of 12 during lockdown, with over 200,000 customer engagements with it in the year to February 2021.
The app, which gives a claims authorisation within two minutes, was relaunched in November 2019, but has seen usage soar during lockdown.
The app is currently developing livechat and automated uploading of cash plan receipts, but currently offers remote GP access, health insurance claim authorisation, cash plan claims submission, claims tracking and secure messaging.
WPA paid two rebates last April and June during Covid to corporate and retail customers. Each rebate was the equivalent of 40 per cent of a monthly premium. With the June rebate, a 40 year old customer with comprehensive cover living in Reading paying £82.99 a month received £35.
WPA executive director – corporate Brian Goodman says: “The evolution of the WPA Health App has been driven by the need to give customers choice, convenience and control without compromising service. WPA’s customers now have the option to interact with WPA however they want, at any time of day or night.
“We receive record numbers of compliments each month and are the only health insurer to have paid rebates during Covid.”
