Vitality has appointed Dr Arun Thiyagarajan to be the new managing director of its health insurance business.
Thiyagarajan will start in January 2025, taking over from Dr Keith Klintworth who is retiring from this role, though continuing in a consultancy role for Vitality.
Arun currently holds the role of global healthcare transformation director at Bupa where he has helped develop their organisational and healthcare strategy across all markets, with responsibility for digital transformation strategy, platforms and healthcare pathways.
He has been with Bupa for over five years, holding a number of other roles, including general manager – Bupa Global and UK Health Clinics. Prior to this, he was a general practitioner and associate/Managing Director at Hedena Health in Oxford.
Vitality CEO Neville Koopowitz says: “The business has seen sustained growth in recent years and is at the forefront of private medical insurance provision, with an emphasis on prevention, alongside primary and secondary care. He brings a wealth of healthcare and medical experience with him, which will be highly relevant as we evolve our offering.”
He pointed out the Klintworth will move to a consultancy role, facilitating the leadership transition. Klintworth has been with Vitality for over 14 years ago. Koopowitz says: “[Klintworth’s] achievements include many developments and improvements to member experience, pioneering digital healthcare in the UK private medical insurance market and introducing primary care services to our members.”
