Hymans Robertson has promoted William Chan to the newly created role of head of DC investment.

In this new position Chan, who joined the company in 2015, will lead Hymans Robertson on its DC investment proposition, portfolio construction and implementation for a broad range of DC clients and under a diverse range of governance models.

Chan has previously led the DC research area at Hymans, where he has focused his time on researching DGFs, multi-factor equities, ESG funds and pre and post-retirement solutions in the DC marketplace.

Prior to this he was an investment consultant for JANA Investment Advisers and MLC Implemented Consulting in Australia. Chan has also joined the newly formed Pension Advice Taskforce set up by the Personal Finance Society.

Hymans Robertson partner and head of DC Mark Jaffray says: “[Chan] has been a driving force behind the development of our investment strategy design and more recently our responsible investment proposition for DC.”

Chan adds: “It’s fair to say that DC pensions have transformed over the last decade. I’m really excited to take over this role as DC investment strategies continue to evolve within the emerging environment of consolidation, increased regulation, particularly with regards to responsible investment, and the significant growth in assets that the DC industry will experience in the next decade.”
